THE SPOT FIXTURE RATES WERE REPORTED AT HIGH LEVELS - VISTAAR


COALspot.com - "The markets seems to holding back this week appears the momentum which picked up last week may slow down" - Capt. Reddy of Vistaar Shipping, Singapore..

The BDI and cape index were almost at same levels with slightly up and closing at 717 points and 1461 points respectively. The Panamax and Supramax was slightly down closing at 949 points and 641 points respectively. The handysize index was by 13 points and closed at 379 points.

The spot fixture rates were reported at high levels. Supramax delivery Singapore was reported at $13,000 per day for trip via Indonesia to India. Also supramax from WC India to China was reported at  S11,000 per day. This week may see rates holding a bit.

The Eurozone crisis seems to be have effect on the financial markets and uncertainty continues. The iron ore stock in Chinese port continues to be high at around 100 mill tons. With Winter getting over the coal import to China may be slightly less.

The average charter rates was at Cape/$ 5,286 per day , Panamax/$ 7,687 per day , Supramax/$ 6,701 per day and Handysize/$ 5,684 per day.

The futures for three years (2012-2014) was at around Cape/$ 16,000 per day, Panamax/$ 11,500 per day, Supramax/$ 11,000 per day , Handysize/$ 8,500 per day.

The supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was up by 9.23 pct and closed at $ 6,860 per day (last week $ 6,280 pday) and S7 route  was up by 3.36 pct and closed at $ 6,082 per day (last week $ 5,884 per day) . S6 and S7 route likely to be firm next week.

The congestion in EC Australia increased to 101 vessels this week(last week 102). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Haypoint/2, DBCT/18, Gladstone/13, Abbot Point/3, New Castle/51, Port Kembla/13 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 69 vessels (last week 64).

The brent crude oil prices closed at $ 119.58 per barrel (last week $ 117.57 per barrel) and bunkers prices closed at $ 738.50 pmt (last week $ 740.50 pmt)for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 17th  Feb 2012.
