THE IRON ORE EXPORTS FROM INDIA TO CHINA ARE DOWN AND THE RATES DROPPED
 HANDY
The BSI has continued its downward trend confirming the softening of the Atlantic since the previous week and reflecting a correction of the markets. Handies are achieving around 15k per day for trips via B sea to India, H maxes US$ 20k for intermed biz. A Supra fixed 12,500 dely B sea to USG. Supras are getting high 20´s for Atl r/v .
USG/Continent/B sea activity remains solid. The outlook is for a pursued firm markets in the Atl. The F East market got under pressure this week. A reason for that might be the over tonnage on the one hand and the upcoming Chinese New Year on the other, owners try to cover their positions before the holidays and discounting their rates.

fixtures reported. India; the iron ore exports to China are down and the rates dropped, where owners could achieve high 30´send of last week Supras trading now in the low/mid 30´s.
PANAMAX
It´s been a fairly quiet and flat market last week. Mixed views on direction and forward expectations, a few signs of optimism at the end of last week, but they were short lived. Limited amount of fresh orders apart from more shipments out of South America, and the list of available tonnage and ballasters grew longer as the week progressed. Charterers hesitating to commit themselves and speculating that the market will drop further.
Transatlantic at US$ 32000 pd, Front haul at US$ 41000 pd, transpacific at rv US$ 26000pd, and backhaul at US$ 17500 pd. Average Baltic index increased from3589 (US$ 28833) to 3630 (US$ 29177). Some period enquiry remains, showing some signs of optimism - 1 year US$ 25/26000, 2 years US$ 22/ 23000, and 3 years concluded a bit over 21000 pd.
CAPESIZE
Taking a slight blow after a handful of positive days. Average spot earnings stand at around US$ 39k/day and sliding on the back of simultaneous withdrawal by major miners. Limited operator activity and softening paper values effectively putting a temporary end to period fixing - where levels concluded during the week have hovered between US$42k and 44k basis 5-7months on modern 174-177000 tonners with early February China delivery.
In Atlantic, an additional 5 x 150000mt spot coal sale by Colombian miner-for Q1 lifting/destination China seems insufficient to avoid front haul Tubarao/Qingdao trade to fall close to US$ 30 pmt. Dampier/Qingdao conference trade at US$ 2 pmt and sliding as tonnage supply appears ample.
