RESTING TIME FOR INDONESIAN COAL LOADING VESSELS
 COALspot.com (Indonesia): 11 - 15 vessels are waiting in anchorages of Muara Berau and Tanjung Pemancingan to load total about 700,000 – 900,000 MT of Indonesian coal since December 2009.
According to our sources, a vessel was waiting since 4th December to load about 40,000 MT. but, there is no sign of commencement of loading of coal for that vessel. Mostly Indian and Chinese buyers are affected against non performance or slow performances of those waiting vessels.
Some of vessels or charterers are considering to move their vessels from east Kalimantan anchorage to south Kalimantan to look for fresh cargo to load. However according to people who are familiar with south Kalimantan supply chain said that, supply crisis of South Kalimantan is also similar to East Kalimantan. Hence finding coal for immedete loading would not be easy even thou willing to pay higher price.
Majority of vessels are called for small or medium scale supplier / producer/ trader, but some of waiting vessels are belongs to big international coal trading companies.
According to shipping companies in south and east Kalimantan, there are still new vessels are expecting to arrive loading anchorage for loading. However they also added that, there is no sign of preparation either coal or barges to load incoming vessel on schedule by respective suppliers.
Hence the situation may become more worse in coming weeks. Out of 11 – 15 vessels, few vessels are waiting without knowing estimat loading date, logistic service companies said.
Due to strong Indoensian Rupiah, Indonesian coal prices increasing and now at higher level compare to last quarter of 2009. Coal traders who contracted at old price with buyers and not covered cargo from their suppliers are facing difficulties to full fill their contractual commitments. Hence the vessels are forced to wait until they find a solutions over come supply crisis.
Indoensian coal prices are also increased compare to early December 2009 due to stronger Indoensian Rupiah and higher demand from India and China.(cs)
