PT. BUKIT ASAM TO BUILD NEW COAL LOADING TERMINAL AND COAL LOADER


COALspot.com (Indonesia): PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk, Indonesia’s state owned  coal mining company,  is planning to build an additional coal loading conveyor  in Tarahan coal terminal or new coal loading terminal in Lampung. The new terminal can accommodate Cape size vessels for loading.  The existing facilities of PT Bukit Asam can accomodate panamax vessels or up to 70000 DWT vessels for loading.

The new terminal or conveyor is expecting to commission its operation by 2012. The coal production will also  expecting to increase to 50 million ton per annum by 2015 when the new double track railway line is ready to move more cargo from its new and existing coal mines.

PT. Bukit Asam Transpacific Railway a joint venture company between, PT. Bukit Asam, PT. Transpacific Railway Infrastructure and China Railway Engineering Corporation  which will be in charged to build and operate the new railway track to move exclusively Bukit Asam coal from its new coal mines. The mines are expecting to start operation by 2013 – 2014.

The total investment of railway line would be around US$ 1.06 billion.

During period of January – September 2009,  PT. Bukit Asam’s sales revenue increased 32% to IDR  6,554.89 billion, mainly due to an increase in selling price. However the company’s sales volume for the same period decreased by 6.7% to 8.73 million tons  compare to 9.35 million tons in the same period in 2008.

The period of January – September 2009, the company’s Gross profit Margin was 58.5% and Operating profit margin and net profit margin were 45.2% and 34% respectively or increased from 49.6%, 35.6% and 26.6% respectively in the same period in 2008.

PT. Bukit Asam, one of the well performed government owned public limited company in Indonesia is targeting No.1 coal producer position by 2015 when they are ready with an additional infrastructure and an new operative coal mines.

PT. Bukit Asam also planning to invest in 4 X 600 MW power plants in Banko Tengah area, joint venturing with a Chinese company.
