INDUSTRY VETERANS & ORGANIZATIONS HONOURED WITH THE PRESTIGIOUS SHIPTEK INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 2022
Press Release: The 15th edition of the prestigious ShipTek International Conference & Awards 2022 concluded successfully from March 7th - 8th 2022, at the Constellation Ballroom, The Address Marina Hotel, Dubai. Organized by Biz Events Management in association with Aries Group, the event brought together the key decision-makers and high-level policymakers within the Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas sector under a single umbrella.
H.E Eng. Hessa Ahmed Hamdan Almalek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs, The UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and H.E Eng. Essam M Alammari, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the International Maritime Organization, graced the event and delivered the "Keynote Address”.
The Maritime Industry is on the quest for sustainability while driving growth and profitability. It is critical to the industry as it transits to clean fuels to utilize the solutions in the market to make an immediate environmental and financial impact today. These factors can potentially shape the future of the Shipping Industry tomorrow.
From decarbonization to digitalization, ShipTek 2022 focused on the industry's pressing issues and emerging trends. The event witnessed interesting and engaging panel discussions where experts discussed how the shipping industry gears up to face the decarbonization challenge and the "GO GREEN" initiative. Experts reflected on the efforts taken by the shipping industry to fulfill its commitment towards the environment, ensuring the sustainability of the sector in the future. The conference contemplated how decarbonization facilitates greater opportunities while retaining the industry's commitment to nature. It also noted the resilience and leadership exhibited by women in the sector amidst the pandemic and how it can further the growth and sustainability of the industry. Discussions on the role of women in maritime took the spotlight as experts in the sector elaborated on the resilience and leadership adopted amidst the global pandemic, weighing in on the part of women in the same.
The much-anticipated International ShipTek International Awards 2022 were bestowed on industrial veterans who contributed significantly to the industry and demonstrated innovation, vision, and leadership in their endeavours. The Awards was presented by H.E Eng. Essam M Alammari, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the International Maritime Organization & SIR Sohan Roy, President, International Maritime Club, Founder Chairman & CEO, Aries Group.
Prof. Mustafa A. Massad, President, Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS), and H.E Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman-Dubai Council for Marine & Maritime Industries (DCMMI emirates), Chairman & Group CEO KBI UAE, were endowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award - Academics and the Lifetime Achievement Award - Maritime Affairs respectively.
ShipTek Individual Excellence Awards were bestowed upon the promising professionals in this sector. The winners included Capt. AbdulKareem Al Masabi, CEO, ADNOC L&S (ShipTek Maritime Personality of the Year); Dr. Anil Sharma Founder & CEO, GMS (CEO of the Year); Effat Mostafa, Executive Director, Tactics Management & Managing Director, Marasi News (Rising Star Individual-Female); Ramee Rashid, Owner & Director Seamaster Maritime (Rising Star Individual-Male).
