AUSTRALIA'S NEWCASTLE PORT SHIPPED 12.179 MT OF COAL IN MAY; DOWN 14.77% M/M
 COALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports and the world’s largest coal export port has shipped $AU1,453.6 Million worth of 12.17 million tons of Power plant coal and coking coal for the month ended May 2018. The average selling price for month May was around $AU 119.34 (approximately US$ 88.61*) per tons rose approximately 11.03 percent from April 2018 average selling price of $AU 107.48 per ton.
According to Port’s monthly report, YTD (2018 calendar year to date), the port has shipped $AU 7.631 billion worth of 63,575,562 tons of coal. The average selling price YTD was around average $AU 120.03 per MT.
Port has shipped 14.77 percent less coal in May compared to its April 2018 loading of Coal 14,290,318 tons.
$AU 1,453.6 million trade value of coal shipped in May 2018 compared to $AU 1,536 million in April 2018.
According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 31 May 2018, the port has served 131 (down 13.81% month on month) ocean going vessels in May 2018 and 701 vessels January – May this year.
The port’s report further noted that the Port of Newcastle has shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia and Taiwan in the month of May 2018.

The Port of Newcastle is the world's largest coal export port and is one of Australia's largest ports by throughput tonnage.
Strategically positioned at the gateway to the largest regional economy in New South Wales, with close proximity to Sydney, the port is the economic and trading centre for the Hunter Valley and much of northern New South Wales and is a critical supply chain interface for the movement of cargo.
