PORT OF NEWCASTLE SHIPPED A$ 1.527 BILLION WORTH OF 12.65 MT OF COAL IN NOVEMBER
Port of NewcastleCOALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports, and the world’s largest coal export port has shipped $AU 1527.6 Million worth of 12.65 million tons of Power plant coal and coking coal for the month of November 2017.

The average selling price for month November 2017 was around $AU 120.70 (approximately US$ 94.20*) per ton, approximately 4.22 per cent decline month over month. The average selling price of $AU 126.02 (approximately US$ 95.59*) per ton was recorded in October 2017.

The port has shipped 8.73 percent more coal in November 2017 compared to its October 2017 loading of 11.63 million tons.
Year to month, the port has shipped $AU 17.48 billion worth of 144.373 million tons of coal. The average selling price for the period January – November 2017 was around $AU 121.09 per ton (approximately US$ 94.43*).

According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 30 November 2017, the port has served 142 (up 8.39% month on month) ocean-going vessels in November 2017 and 1,593 ocean-going vessels for first 11 months of 2017.

The port’s report further noted that the Port of Newcastle has shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia & Taiwan in the month of November 2017.

Anglo, Peabody, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger coal exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.

The Port of Newcastle is the largest bulk shipping port on the east coast of Australia and the world’s leading coal export port. On 30 May 2014, Port of Newcastle Investments (trading as Port of Newcastle) commenced a 98-year lease of the Port of Newcastle with the New South Wales Government.

According to company’s website, the principal trade at the Port of Newcastle is coal. Non-coal commodities traded through the port include grain, steel, project cargo, vegetable oils, fuels, orange juice concentrate and containers destined for local business.
