PORT OF NEWCASTLE SHIPPED 13.62 MMT OF COAL IN NOVEMBER; UP 4.18% M/M
 COALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports and the world’s largest coal export port has shipped $AU 1,201 Million worth of 13.627 million tons of Power plant coal and coking coal for the month ended November 2016. The average selling price for month November was around $AU 88.13 (approximately US$ 65.10*) per ton, rose approximately 2.53 percent from October 2016 average selling price of $AU 85.95 per ton.
According to Port’s monthly report, YTD (2016 calendar year to date), the port has shipped $AU 13.13 billion worth of 145.456 million tons of coal. The average selling price YTD was around average $AU 90.27 per MT.
Port has shipped 4.18 percent more coal in November compared to its October 2016 loading of 13.08 million tons.
$AU 1,201.0 million trade value of coal shipped in November 2016 compared to $AU 1,124.7 million in October 2016.
According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 30 November 2016, the port has served 145 (up 3.57% month on month) ocean going vessels in November 2016 and 1581 vessels January –November this year.
The port’s report further noted that the Port of Newcastle has shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia & Taiwan in the month of November 2016.
Anglo, Peabody, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger coal exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
