AUSTRALIA'S PORT OF NEWCASTLE SHIPPED 13.08 MT OF COAL IN OCTOBER; DOWN 10.39% M/M
 COALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports and the world’s largest coal export port has shipped $AU1,124.7 Million worth of 13.08 million tons of Power plant coal and coking coal for the month ended October 2016. The average selling price for month October was around $AU 85.95 (approximately US$ 64.39) per tons rose approximately 3.16 percent from September 2016 average selling price of $AU 83.31 per ton.
According to Port’s monthly report, YTD (2016 calendar year to date), the port has shipped $AU 11.36 billion worth of 131.82 million tons of coal. The average selling price YTD was around average $AU 86.20 per MT.
Port has shipped 10.39 percent less coal in October compared to its September 2016 loading of 14.60 million tons.
$AU 1,124.7 million trade value of coal shipped in October 2016 compared to $AU 1,216.7 million in September 2016.
According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 31 October 2016, the port has served 140 (down 13.58% month on month) ocean going vessels in October 2016 and 1,436 vessels January – October this year.
The port’s report further noted that the Port of Newcastle has shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia and Taiwan in the month of October 2016.
Anglo, Peabody, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger coal exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
