4200 GAR INDONESIAN COAL PRICE MAY TOUCH $ 32/33 A TON LEVELS SOON
 COALspot.com: Indonesian coal prices are likely surge further in 2016 as the recent price movement in Indonesian coal markets suggests that the market has overcome the bearish trend which disturbed the industry for a very long period.
China’s tight coal production policy has supported current coal price rally, says one of the largest Indonesian coal producer.
According to the coal miner, the last several months China succeeds to cut significant production volume and also limit to 276 working days for coal mines. The restrictions and new regulations on coal mines and its production in China has pushed up the coal prices.
The miner further noted that, the current high calorific value coal prices have increased significantly from its bottom levels that we have seen so far this year.
A coal trader who is based in Singapore says, he expects the price of 4200 GAR coal of Indonesian origin will be soon touched US$ 32/33 per ton levels and the market should not be surprised if the price of 4200 GAR hits US$ 35 per ton by end of this year or Q1 next year.
Commenting on 5000 GAR coal, the trader said the max upside we might see is US$ 2 to 3 dollars increase from the current levels. Low calorific value coal prices follow slowly but firmly.
In the meantime, an officer from another leading coal producer in Indonesia agreed that, the low grade coal prices rallying because of the recent renewed buying demand from Chinese utilities, According to him, we can discussed many reasons for the price rally such as winter demand, port limitations in Russia, recent freight trend, Australia weather, SA port, but the main reason is still China is importing huge quantity of the lower CV grade coal. As usual in recent years, the Chinese buyers are still deciding the market direction.
He further noted, we will see price to strengthen further for a while until September and likely will remain until end of this year, unless the China reduce its control on tight production policy and change its buying pattern.
