PORT OF NEWCASTLE SHIPPED 10.5 PER CENT LESS COAL IN SEPTEMBER, COMPARED TO AUGUST LOADING
 COALspot.com: The Port of Newcastle, Australia’s major trading ports and the world’s largest coal export port, has shipped $1.161 billion worth of 12.774 million tons of coal for the month ended 30 September 2015. The based on available information, the average selling price was around US$ 90.92 per tons in September 2015 declined approximately 1.59 percent from August 2015 average selling price of US$ 92.39 per ton.
According to Port’s monthly report, YTD (2015 calendar year to date), the port has shipped $10.581 billion worth of 116.89 million tons of coal. The average selling price YTD was around US$ 90.52 per MT.
Port has shipped 10.50 percent less coal in September compared to its August 2015 loading of 14,116,346 tons.
$1.161 billion trade value of coal shipped in September 2015 compared to $1.304 billion in August 2015 .
According to operation report posted on port’s website, as of 30 September 2015, the port has served 138 (down 9.21% month on month) ocean going vessels in September and 1252 vessels January – September this year.
The port’s report further noted that, the Port of Newcastle shipped coal to Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Caledonia and Taiwan in the month of September 2015.
Anglo, Peabody, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger coal exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
