BDI FELL CONTINUOUSLY HIT A THREE DECADES LOW
COALspot.com: This week Baltic Exchange Dry Freight Index (BDI) fell continuously hit a three decades low.
The BDI continuously fell and was down by 8.05 pct within a week to 559 points on 6 February 2015. The cape index was slightly up week on week or increased 1.47 pct for the same period while The panamax index was lost 15.35 percent. Cape index was closed at 689 points while Panamax closed at 430 points on 6 February 2015.
The supramax index and handy size indices were fell around 10 pct and closed at 530 points and 301 points respectively.
In the Far East/SE Asia the freight rates continued to be soft and the supramax charter rates delivery Singapore were being rated around US$ 5,000-5,500 per day for trip to India. Panamax charter rates were soft and ships were reported fixed delivery Indonesia around US$ 5,000 per day for trip to India. Freight rates are expected to be weak on supramax vessels and panamax vessels coming days.
The average charter rate reported at around US$ 5,700 per day for Cape, US$ 3,430 per day for Panamax, US$ 5,541 per day for Supramax and US$ 4,533 per day for Handy size.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) were reported at around US$ 14000 per day for Cape size ships, US$ 9000 per day for Panamaxes, US$ 9000 per day for Supramaxes and US$ 7500 per day for Handysize ships.
The route S8 route for supramax fell 16.75 pct closed at US$ 5,094 per day (last week US$ 6,119 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is expected to be soft next week.
The Brent crude oil prices were up by 9.08 pct closing at US$ 57.80 per barrel (last week US$ 52.99 per barrel). The bunker prices was almost at same levels closing at 351.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 6th Feb 2015).
