INDONESIA COAL NEWS UPDATES
.jpg) PTBA to Produce 13 Million Tons
President Director of Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA), Sukrisno has estimated coal production of the company this year will reach 13 million ton. This state enterprise has also allocated a fund of Rp1.5 trillion for acquiring coal mines in the framework of increasing company’s reserves.
Supply Temporarily Stopped
PT PLN has rescheduled all coal delivery contracts for Suralaya steam power plant. The deliveries were temporarily stopped because the stock was far above normal. “PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam for example, from its commitment of 300,000 – 400,000 ton, reduced to 100,000 ton only. the remining supply to be postponed to 2010,” said President Commissioner of PT PLN, Alhilal Hamdi.
Coal Transportation Contract
PT Rig Tenders Indonesia Tbk has won a contract of transporting coal from PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Arutmin Indonesia. According to the Director of Rig, Wan Ruzlan, contract with Adaro is valid until 2012 for 20-21 million ton per year.
Special Regulation of People’s Mines
The Head of the Geotechnology Research Center of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Iskandar Zulkarnaen, proposed to the government to include a special regulation that arranges people’s mining in the implementing regulation of mineral and coal. Without such regulation they would be in jeopardy and even has the potential of conflicts.
Exploration Stopped
PT Jambi Resources stopped its coal mining exploration at 462 Block in Muara Bungo regency, Jambi, due to illegal occupancy of the area by the locals in February 2009. Mine Manager Bay Andri said the company threatened to lose US$15-20 million.
PT. Berau to Supply 700,000 Ton to China
PT Berau Coal has got a coal selling contract of 700,000 ton from two companies in China. President Director of Berau, Bob Kamandanu said that the contract will support the reaching of the company’s selling target of 14.2 million ton this year. In the first quarter of 2009 the production of Berau was only three million ton; usually it is 3.5 million ton.
