CAPE INDEX UP 3.06%; PANAMAX INDEX FELL 4.05%
 COALspot.com: The BDI was almost at same levels compared to last week closing or just increased 0.77 pct from last week. The BDI was closed at 1437 points on 7 November 2014 comapred to 1428 on 31 October 2014.
The cape index continued its journey heading to North, but momentum was lost as seen in last two weeks with the index up only 3.06 pct and closed at 3661 points.
The Panamax index was down 4.05 pct to 1183 points week on week and the supramax index was down 1.23 pct 881 points for the same period. The handy size index was also down by 2.78 pct closing at 454 points.
In the Far East/SE Asia the freight rates were steady and the supramax charter rates was reported or fixed around US$ 10,000 per day delivery Singapore. Panamax charter rates also show a firm trend. Freight rates are expected to be flat to steady next week.
The average charter rate for Cape at US$ 26,105 per day, Panamax at US$ 9,480 per day, Supramax at US$ 9,209 per day and Handy size at US$ 6,629 per day.
The futures for three years (2015-2017) were at around US$ 17,500 per day for cape vessels, US$ 10,500 per day for Panamax vessels, US$ 10,500 per day for Supramax and US$ 9000 per day for handy size vessels.
The route S8 route for supramax was almost at same levels compared to last week or slightly up to US$ 7486 per day (last week US$ 7459 per day). Freight rates from Indonesia to India is still expected to be flat to firm next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was soft and was down by 2.87 pct closing at US$ 83.39 per barrel (last week US$ 85.86 per barrel). The bunker prices was also soft and closed at US$ 464.00 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 7th Nov 2014).
