REN POWER CZ COMMISSIONS ANOTHER PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER STATION
 COALspot.com (Press Release): REN Power CZ, a company in the Czech Coal Group, has put into operation another photovoltaic power station. The plant has an output of 1.1 MW and is located in the village of Starojická Lhota in the Nový Jiín area. According to information from the Energy Regulatory Office, with its capacity of 6.33 MW REN Power CZ has become the largest operator of photovoltaic power stations in the Czech Republic. Together with this new plant, the country registers 60 photovoltaic power stations (with an output of more than 300 kW); their total capacity is 60.6 MW.
“Photovoltaic predominates, but we also want to produce electricity from other renewable resources. Last year, the capital expenditure was CZK 400 million, this year it is expected to rise to CZK 800 million,” says Vladimír Šístek, REN Power CZ Chairman.
The Starojická Lhota power station is situated on a piece of land covering more than two hectares and uses photovoltaic panels manufactured by FitCraft Production a.s., in which REN Power CZ holds a majority equity interest. The expected service life of the power station is 30 years. After reaching the end of its life, the installation will be easily dismantled and the land will be provided for further use.
The Czech Coal Group includes Czech Coal a.s., a trader in energy commodities, mainly brown coal, electrical energy and greenhouse gas emissions allowances, and Litvínovská uhelná a.s., which holds the largest volume of coal reserves in the Czech Republic, Vršanská uhelná a.s., whose coal reserves within the mining limits will last until 2058, Czech Coal Services, a.s., which provides shared service to the extraction companies, and a number of other service companies.
