INDONESIA TO INDIA FREIGHT MARKET DECLINE CONTINUES
COALspot.com: The freight market continued to drop this week and BDI almost touched 1000 points. BDI closed at 1002 points fell 16.85 pct week on week.
The cape index was also heavily fell by 22.42 pct and index is closed at 1,789 points. The Panamax index seemed to have reached the bottom down and lost 4.86 pct week on week and closed at 782 points. The Supramax and handy size indices were down by about 7 pct closing at 927 points and 556 points respectively.
In the Far East/SE Asia the charter rates for supramax continued to be weak and most vessels were rating around US$ 13-14,000 per day passing Singapore, but charterers were rating lower than owners rating.
Panamax rates were also continued to lost ground as owners rating around US$ 9,000 per day delivery South China. Freight rates are expected to be soft next week.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 11,042 per day , Panamax/US$ 6,312 per day , Supramax/US$ 9,696 per day and Handy size/US$ 8,282 per day.
The futures for three years (2014-2016) was at around Cape/US$ 23,000 per day, Panamax/US$ 12,500 per day, Supramax/US$ 12,500 per day , Handy size/US$ 10,000 per day.
The route S8 route softened further and fell 6.05 pct week on week and closed at US$ 10,033 per day (last week US$ 10,679 per day ). A weak trend is expected for freight rates from Indonesia to India next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly up by 0.57 pct and closed at US$ 107.33 per barrel (last week US$ 106.72 per barrel). The bunker prices was slightly up and closed at 587.50 pmt (IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 11th April 2014).
