THE WORLD LARGEST POWER PLANT COAL EXPORTER SHIPPED 36 MILLION TONS OF COAL IN MARCH
COALspot.com: Indonesia, the world largest multi grade coal exporter has shipped 36.165* million tons of coal in March 2013.
According to available information from coal exporters and various other sources, China is the largest importer of Indonesian coal in March followed by India. China’s Indonesian coal imports have reached 12.277* million tons in March.
Meanwhile, India, an another world’s largest coal importer and consumer has imported 9.704* million tons of coal from Indonesia in March.
Low calorific value power plant coal supplies are still dominating Indian market.
According to a coal supplier from Sumatera Island, affordable coal prices as well low sea freights are encouraging Indian and Chinese buyers to keep eye on Indonesian coal for last few months. This trend is expecting to continue coming months and years. According to one of our previous weekly polling, Indian coal buyers are still believe that, Indonesia will be an attractive destination for coal in 2013 for Indian coal buyers.
85.74* percent of total Indonesian coal exported quantity in March shipped to top five traditional Indonesian coal buyers such as China, India, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. 98.22* per cent of total coal exports in March or approximately 35.523 million tons shipped to China, India, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong and Spain.
Indonesian coal prices were flat trend for last few days.
Indonesian coal exports to China and India have increased significantly for last couple of year. Half of Indonesian coal exports always being shipped to China and India.
According to mining law 4/2009 all coal miners in Indonesia to require to follow government declared coal prices ( HBA) when they conclude a coal sales and purchase contract with their buyers.
The government declared minimum selling price for Indonesian coal for May delivery was lesser than April minimum price.
Indonesian coal producers are required to use the Indonesian coal price reference for all spot and term contracts. This coal benchmark price is stated as using a formula based on the index average of ICI-1 (Indonesia Coal Index), Platts-5900, Newcastle Export Index, and global Coal Index. The assessment basis of the coal price reference was calculated considering coal with GCV 6,322kcal/kg (GAR), Total Moisture (AR) 8.00%, Total Sulphur 0.8% (AR), Ash Content 15% (AR) and delivery Free on Board (FOB) Vessel basis.
The government declared HBA for May has increased fell 3.65% percent M-O-M and 16.44 percent Y-O-Y.
The Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources of Indonesia sets the coal’s spot price benchmark for May 2013 at US$ 85.33 per ton (basis 6322 GAR coal), which is US$ 3.23 lesser than April 2013 price and US$16.79 lower compared to the same period in 2012.
