THE SUPRAMAX FREIGHT EXPECTED TO BE SOFT NEXT WEEK - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - This week the market remained soft with all the sectors soft.
The BDI and was down by 6 pct closing at 986 points. The cape index was going up for last few weeks was also down by 6 pct closing at 2304 points. The Panamax index continued to remain soft down 4.73 pct closing at 766 points. The Supramax and Handysize index remained soft closing at 669 points (down by 4.30 pct) and 422 points (down by 2.76 pct).
The Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India was fairly steady. The charter rates for vessels delivery Singapore reported around US$ 10000 per day for trip via Indonesia to India. The Supramax freight expected to be soft next week and the panamax freights are also expected to be soft.
One year charter rates for Cape size vessels was at around US$ 14000 per day. Short period rates for Panamax and supramax was around US$ 8000 per day.
The Iron ore prices reached 3 month high and there could be some correction in prices and slowing of iron ore imports. The prices of iron ore and coal remains soft and seems freight market could be fairly steady/soft.
The average charter rates was at Cape / US$ 15409 per day , Panamax / US$ 6133 per day , Supramax / US$ 6992 per day and Handy size / US$ 6233 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape / US$ 15000 per day, Panamax / US$ 9500 per day, Supramax / US$ 9500 per day , Handy size / US$ 8000 per day.
The supramax index in the far east (S8 route) was almost at same levels (down by 0.34 pct) and closed at US$ 7709 per day (last week US$ 7736 per day) and S7 route was down by 2.45 pct and closed at US$ 4327 per day (last week US$ 4436 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady/soft next week.
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly down by 3.69 pct and closed at US$ 105.51 per barrel (last week US$ 109.55 per barrel). The bunker prices closed also lower at US$ 612.50 (last week US$ 628.00 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 2nd Nov 2012.
