SOFT BUNKER PRICES KEEP INDONESIA TO INDIA FREIGHTS STABLE - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The freight market overall remained buoyant with all indices up except for Panamax index. The main effect seems to be increased shipment of iron ore into China. However the Panamax sector remained weak mainly due to weak Atlantic market and lack of cargoes. The short period activity reduced this week compared to previous week. The freight market is expected to be steady next week.
The BDI was up mainly due to jump in the Cape index. The BDI was up by 6.92 pct closing at 774 points and the cape Index was sharply up by 31.56 pct closing at 1584 points. In the meantime, the panamax index remained soft down by 6.97 pct closing at 467 points . The Supramax and Handysize index was almost at same levels closing at 847 points and 484 points respectively.
The Supramax freight market from Indonesia to India remained stable with softening of bunker prices. The freight rates from Indonesia is expected to be steady next week.
The average charter rates were at Cape/$ 7664 per day , Panamax/$ 3719 per day , Supramax/$ 8859 per day and Handysize/$ 7047 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/$ 13,500 per day, Panamax/$ 9,500 per day, Supramax/$ 10,000 per day , Handysize/$ 8,500 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was up by 3.96 pct and closed at $ 8,100 per day (last week $ 7791 per day) and S7 route was up by 6.92 pct and closed at $ 5084 per day (last week $ 4755 per day) . Both routes likely to be steady/firm next week.
The congestion in EC Australia was at 55 vessels this week (last week 56 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Haypoint/2, DBCT/9, Gladstone/5, Abbot Point/2, New Castle/32, Port Kembla/4 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 39 vessels (last week 36 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices was down by 4.41 pct and closed at $ 111.59 per barrel (last week $ 116.74 per barrel). The bunker prices also softened and closed at $ 659.00 (last week $ 697.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 21st Sept 2012.
