FREIGHT RATES FOR INDONESIA TO INDIA WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN FIRM- VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - This week saw another upward trend with all indices up except for the Cape index.
The BDI was up by 6.87 pct closing at 824 points and will be interesting to see if the BDI will cross 1000 points in next few weeks. The Cape index was slightly down by 1.51 pct and closed at 1503 points. The Panamax index was up by 5.33 pct and closed at 889 points. The supramax saw the biggest gain which was up by 15.97 pct closing at 864 points and the handysize index was up by 7.32 pct closing at 469 points.
The spot fixture rates for Supramax in SE Asia continued to be firm for trips to India and China. The freight rates for Indonesia to India remained firm and continued the upward trend. Vessels delivery SE Asia for trip to India were reported fixed around $ 15000 per day and delivery South China was reported around $ 11000 per day. It seems the freight rates for Indonesia to India will continue to remain firm for next 2/3 weeks.
The Short period rates for Supramax delivery Feast/Se Asia was around $ 11000-12000 per day and for Panamax was around $ 10000-11000 per day.
The average charter rates was at Cape/$ 5786 per day , Panamax/$ 7129 per day , Supramax/$ 9035 per day and Handy size/$ 7106 per day.
The futures for three years (2012-2015) was at around Cape/$ 17000 per day, Panamax/$ 12000 per day, Supramax/$ 15000 per day , Handy size/$ 9000 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S6 route) was at same levels as last week and closed at $ 8180 per day (last week $ 8180 per day) and S7 route was up by 16.06 pct and closed at $ 8309 per day (last week $ 7159 per day) . S6 and S7 route likely to be firm next week.
The congestion in EC Australia decreased to 85 vessels this week (last week 79). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/5, DBCT/11, Gladstone/18, Abbot Point/2, New Castle/33, Port Kembla/8 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at 38 vessels (last week 31).
The Brent crude oil prices was slightly up by 1.76 pct closing at 126.02 per barrel(last week 123.84 per barrel) and bunkers prices closed at $ 729.00 pmt (last week $ 745.00 pmt)for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 9th March 2012.
