COAL MARKETS CELEBRATES A DECADE OF BRINGING BUYERS & SELLERS TOGETHER
In 2012, IBC Asia’s premier Coal Markets conference series – Asia’s only globally focused coal import, export and supply chain event – celebrates its 10th Anniversary in Singapore from 21 – 24 February, and promises to be even bigger and better with the world’s largest producers, traders and buyers in attendance.
Press Release - Pacific seaborne coal demand is very strong as Asian nations lead the world out of recession and drive sustained growth in coal consumption.
China is the fastest-growing coal market in the world, and net coal imports are up nearly 150%. India is the fastest-growing coal importer and expects to be short by as much as 200 million tons of coal per year within five years.
Australia and Indonesia are the top global coal exporters in the world and are expected to have the largest increases in exports in coming years.
Demand drivers continue to underpin strong trade fundamentals, with international coal trade figures expected to top 938 Mt. Apart from working with market drivers, the industry also needs to embrace the complexities of trade, finance and law in a global market place.
As Asia’s most comprehensive and focused industry outlook exploring key supply sources and demand drivers to address the issues of supply security, pricing and transport challenges, IBC Asia’s 10th Annual Coal Markets conference will feature an enviable line up of top speakers from across the entire value chain, including leading experts from coal producers and mining companies, buyers and traders, market and industry honchos, and infrastructure and logistics players.
With a 10 year history, the Coal Markets conference is today recognized as the pivotal forum for any professional involved in the industry in this region. The Asian coal industry has given it a resounding thumbs-up, and acknowledged its role in setting future directions alongside enabling business.
Offering 3 separate tracks and with a new focus on coal investment and trade, alongside an in-depth look at transportation and logistics projects, the 10th Annual Coal Markets will also spotlight supply security and reliability issues, as well as global investment hotspots and emerging supply markets from Asia to Africa.
Other new features for the 2012 programme include an enhanced emphasis on Coking Coal markets, and a specialized Buyer-Seller Meet up on Coal Sourcing and Procurement which will allow small to medium-sized coal mining companies to make short introductions on their available quality types, export supplies and pricing.
Co-located with the Open Cut Mine Planning & Operational Excellence conference, Coal Markets 2012 is set to be the year’s prime platform for industry professionals and stakeholders to meet and network with top regional and global colleagues.
