2ND ANNUAL SHALE GAS SUMMIT

According to a recent EIA study (April 2011), initial assessments identify “5760 tcf of technically recoverable shale gas resources in 32 foreign countries compared with 862 tcf in the United States”.
It is estimated that China has 3532 tcf of shale gas resources and 918 – 1589 tcf of recoverable reserves. China has great potential in which international oil majors and NOCs are closely examining, and attendees at the 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit will get a chance to hear from leading industry player, Enviro Energy, on China’s shale resource potential, as well as participate in discussions on how factors such as gas pricing, Government support, infrastructure and structure of investment companies still pose a challenge and what is needed to overcome this.
In India, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) has identified the regions across their vast landscape with potential shale gas reserves, but exact estimates are still unknown. The DGH is currently mapping out a regulatory framework and a policy for shale gas exploration.

Over in Australia, the Cooper Basin is highly prospective for shale gas and John Heugh, Managing Director of Central Petroleum will highlight their target acreage for shale gas exploration, partnerships, technology and market strategy for commercialization.
Not to be left behind, Indonesia is estimated to have approximately 100Tcf of shale gas resources in which Papua (Eastern Indonesia) and Sumatra (Western Indonesia) have been identified as the main development areas. Vice President of Pertamina’s Upstream Technology Centre, Mr. Adrianyah, will be on hand to give participants at the 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit insight on the latest developments driving shale gas development in Indonesia.
On the global front, NOCs and IOCs like Petrochina, Reliance Industries and BHP Billiton Australia have acquired stakes in Shale Gas companies in the US, which will enable them to gain expertise and technology for the commercialization of Shale Gas. Poland - another key Shale Gas hot spot that has attracted investors worldwide, particularly with their friendly investment environment and fiscal terms - has an estimated 1.4 trillion cubic meters of resources.
