HARDLY ANY CARGO FROM WC INDIA UNTIL END OF MONSOONS - VISTAAR
 COALspot.com - The BDI continued to hold last week and firmed up by 27 points with cape and panama index supporting the BDI.
The BDI closed at 1,449 points, and the Cape index was up by 3.42 points and closing at 2115 points. The Panamax index was up by almost 6 pct and closing at 1684 points. The Supramax and handy size index was down by about 2.5 pct and closing at 1277 points and 699 points respectively.
Overall the market seems to be holding around the present levels. The iron prices started to firm up again indicating that there increased demand of iron ore.
Hardly any cargoes from WC India due to monsoons and many ships considering to ballast to S. Africa or S. America.
The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 13941 per day , Panamax/US$ 13458 per day , Supramax/US$ 13356 per day and Handy size/US$ 10339 per day.
The Supramax index in the far east (S6 route) was down by 3.83 pct and closed at US$ 9769 per day (last week US$ 10159 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) also softened by 5.22 pct and closed at US$ 9121 per day (last week US$ 9624 per day). The S6 and S7 routes likely to be steady next week.
The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/US$ 15000 per day, Panamax/US$ 14000 per day, Supramax/US$ 13500 per day , Handy size/US$ 10500 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia reduced to 51 vessels this week (last week 63 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/5, DBCT/10, Gladstone/7, Abbot Point/Nil, New Castle/26, Port Kembla/3 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting also reduced to 22 vessels (last week 26 vessels).
The Brent crude oil prices increased sharply by 6.12 pct to US$ 118.33 per barrel (last week US$ 111.50 per barrel). Bunker prices also increased and closed at US$ 670.50 pmt (last week US$ 654.50 pmt) for IFO 380 CST ex Singapore on 8th July 2011.
