BELOW 5100 COAL WILL BE BANNED FOR EXPORT BY 12 JANUARY 2014
 COALspot.com - Indonesian government is in the process of drafting an amendment for government regulation 23/ 2010.
GR 23/2010 has issued to support mining law No. 4/ 2009 in early February 2010.
After implementation of regulation for more than one year, the ministry has in an opinion that, there are some issues could not be resolved by the aforementioned regulation, therefore, the office has decided to amend the regulation and which is currently being drawn up the draft revision, according to the website of directorate general of mineral and coal.
It seems that, government to issue another government regulation with additional clauses, and it is not also clear that, the existing regulation 23/ 2010 will be replaced by new regulation or new government regulation will be issued addition to existing GR no 23/2010.
According to draft regulation, Indonesian coal producers to be asked to add value for their coal by processing their product to a higher grade coal. The value added for coal is including washing, crushing, blending and upgrading.
The calorific value of coal which is below 5100 kcal/kg on adb may not be allowed to export after 12 January 2014. Coal below 5100 kcal/kg (adb) must be processed through the upgrading technology to reduce total moisture and increase energy. The processed coal should not below 5100 kcal/kg (adb), according to draft.
