SUPRAMAXES ARE AT AROUND $ 13,500-14,000 PER DAY FOR SINGLE TRIPS
 COALspot.com - The freight remained fairly steady this week with the BDI up by 71 points and closing at 1,340 points, said Capt. Reddy, the director of Vistaar Shipping Singapore. Vistaar Shipping an experiences ship operator and having offices in Singapore and India.
The Cape index was almost at same levels with a marginal increase of 2 points and closing at 1,566 points. The BPI saw the biggest jump was in the panama index up by 22 pct or up by 319 points and closing at 1,769 points. The Supramax and handy size index were marginally down (less than 1 pct) and closed at 1,386 points and 1,390 points respectively.
Supramax delivery far east have been reported fixed around US$ 13,500-14,000 per day for single trips.
Short period rates on Supramax were seen reported around US$ 15,000 per day and Panamax vessels around US$ 14,000 per day. The average charter rates was at Cape/US$ 6,777 per day , Panamax/US$ 14,197 per day , Supramax/US$ 14,490 per day and Handy size/US$ 11,784 per day.
The Supramax index in the far east (S6 route) softened further by 2.06 pct (down by 286 points) and closed at US$ 13,536 per day (last week US$ 13,822 per day). The EC India/China (S7 route) also softened and was down by 2.26 pct (down by US$ 305 per day) and closed at US$ 13,208 per day (last week US$ 13,513 per day). The S6 and S7 routes likely to be steady/firm next week.
The futures for three years (2011-2013) was at around Cape/US$ 16,500 per day, Panamax/US$ 15,000 per day, Supramax/US$ 14,000 per day , Handy size/US$ 11,000 per day.
The congestion in EC Australia reduced to 42 vessels this week (last week 39 vessels). The vessels waiting at main coal loading ports were at Hay point/5, DBCT/17, Gladstone/4, Abbot Point/1, New Castle/9, Port Kembla/3 vessels. On the WC Australia iron ore vessels waiting was at same levels as last week 32 vessels (last week 35 vessels).
The waiting at Indian ports for coal vessels was quite normal except for Visakhapatnam where waiting was bit high.
The Brent crude oil prices dropped by about 12 pct and closed at US$ 110.12 per barrel (last week US$ 125.95 per barrel). Bunker prices also softened and closed at US$ 623.50 pmt (last week US$ 673.50 pmt) for IFO 380 cst ex Singapore on 6th May 2011.
