ITMG TARGETS TO PRODUCE 25 MILLION TONS OF COAL THIS YEAR - BISNIS INDONESIA
 Bisnis Indonesia reported that, Coal producer PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG) targets to produce 25 million tons of coal this year, a 13.64% rise compared to around 22 million tons in 2010.
Edward Manurung, ITMG's finance director, said the additional coal production will come from subsidiaries PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, PT Jorong Barutama Greston, PT Kitadin Embalut and PT Bharinto Ekatama.
The company allocates capital expenditure (capex) of US$110 million for this year funded by internal cash and bond issue or possible bank loan options should the funds be insufficient.
In efforts to cut cost, ITM has conducted efficiency measures, including the development of a coal powered electricity plant to reduce dependency on diesel fuel.
Roslini Onwardi, ITMG's corporate secretary, said the capex will be used for funding haul road development, land acquisition and heavy equipment acquisition.
ITMG currently has six operating areas, five of them are located in East Kalimantan. One operating area is located in South Kalimantan. It has total coal concession of 87,565 hectares.
ITM’s coal reserve estimated stood at 1,650 million tons with reserve of 294 million tons based on Dec 2009 data.
The Bharinto mine is slated to commence operation in the 2nd half of 2011. It has obtained a forest area license permit from the Forestry Ministry, however it is awaiting the forest clearance permit.
The company is also planning to increase Indominco’s East Block up to 12 million tons by 2015.
PT Kitadin Tandung Mayang will restart production by the second half of 2011. The 2,338 hectare mine produces 6,800 kcal sub-bituminus coal with sulfuric content of 1.5%.
