INDONESIAN COAL LOAD PORT WEATHER CONDITION AND DELAYS
COALspot.com - The several leading shipping agents in Indonesia, said due to rainy season in Indonesia, loading activities in coal loading ports have affected and vessel's waiting time had increased significantly in several coal loading anchorages and terminals.
Muara Berau, Samarinda anchorage – Operations in muara berau anchorage in east kalimantan has affected by rains. Rain falls in muara berau anchorage is around 3-4 hours a daily. Due to rainy season in that region, most of the shippers were facing difficulties to load the vessel on time and average waiting average waiting time is around 2-3 days to complete loadings.
However, some small scale shipper’s vessels wear waiting more than normal waiting time. Some vessels were waiting for 1-2 weeks to load cargo due to rain as well as non availability of cargo to load, accordign to one of the shipping agent operating out of samarinda.
Tanjung Bara coal Terminal in east Kalimantan, KPC’s exclusive coal loading terminal, has affected also by rain falls. However, the vessel waiting time has limited only to 2-3 days.
Tanjung Pemancingan, Muara Satui and Taboneo anchorage in South Kalimantan - The average rain falls is around 3-4 hours daily. Due to wet weather, the average waiting time at anchorage is around 2-3 days.
Adang Bay anchorage in east Kalimantan - The loading operations are running normal with the average waiting time of 1-2 days.
Balikpapan coal terminal in east Kalimantan - The loading operation has affected due to rain and the shippers who were using terminal also affected with cargo delivery to the terminal due to rains at their coal mines. Average waiting time is around 5-6 days, said one the agent.
Bontang coal terminal in east Kalimantan – The exclusive coal terminal of Banpu has also affected by seasonal rain, bad weather and the average waiting time has increased to 6-7 days.
Muara Pantai Anchorage in east Kalimantan – The average waiting time for berau coal shipments are around 1-2 days.
However other shippers who are loading through muara pantai anchorage have affected significantly and average waiting time is around 2-3 weeks.
Tarakan anchorage in east Kalimantan – The average waiting time is around only 1-2 days only.
Muara Sabak – The average waiting time has increased to 3-4 days.
Bunyu anchorage in east Kalimantan - The average waiting time is around 1-2 weeks due bad weather and cargo availability.
Bengkulu anchorage - Due to bad weather and rough sea conditions in Bengkulu anchorage, vessel's loading activities have affected significantly and 3-4 days delays in loading have recorded.
Padang / Teluk Bayur - West Sumatra – Around 6 – 7 hours rain falls every day specially night time.
Vessel using general jetty for coal loading activities have affected and delays recorded up to 6-7 days. However the shippers using PTBA terminal has normal operation and have no delays recorded.
