INDONESIA TO INDIA COAL FREIGHT RATES ARE EXPECTED TO BE FLAT TO SOFT NEXT WEEK
COALspot.com - This week the market remained flat compared to last week. BDI slightly up 0.68 pct and closed at 884 points and the cape size index up by 2.83 pct closing at 1,382 points. In the meantime, the Panamax index was down by 1.19 pct closing at 994 pints and Supramax index was 1.14 points closing at 866 points. The Handy size index was also slightly up by 0.92 pct closed at 551 points.
The steel demand likely to slow down and may put pressure on the cape size charter rates. The Indonesia to India coal freight rates are expected to be flat/soft.
The average charter rates was at Cape/$ 6,042 per day , Panamax / $ 7,930 per day , Supramax / $ 9,054 per day and Handy size/$ 8,124 per day.
The futures for three years (2013-2015) was at around Cape/$ 14,000 per day, Panamax / $ 10,000 per day, Supramax / $ 10,000 per day , Handy size/$ 9,000 per day.
The supramax index in the feast (S8 route) was down by 4.15 pct and closed at US$ 8,298 per day (last week $ 8,658 per day) .The route S7 was at same levels closing at $ 7,875 per day (Last week $ 7,875 per day) . The freight market in this sector is expected to be soft this week.
The Brent crude oil prices was down by 0.27 pct closing at $ 103.91 per barrel (last week $ 104.19 per barrel). The bunker prices was also lower closing at same levels and closed at $ 614.00 pmt (IFO 380 CST ex Singapore on 10th May 2013).
