Panamax A bit quiet week in the Atlantic where business is still limited and there have been reports of fixtures done below the BPI T/A route - USD 6666 yesterday. Rates for trips from USG to FEast have been quite positive and some owners achieved rates in the high 16k´s + 600k bonus range. However these levels were achieved on spot vessels requiring some waiting time. In the ECSA market business is scarce, and fixtures reportedly done around 12-13k + a ballast bonus. In the FEast the tonnage list is ever growing. LMEs gets high 6k´s for Aussie/China, around 7-7500 for Nopac rounds and Indo/China business is fixing around the same level. We also saw one owner able to obtain around USD 9k for Indo/ECI. Short period in the east has been done around 8-8500. In the Atlantic charterers have been rating vessels around 12k for short period bss redel ww, for which owners have little interest.
Capesize Rally in the Capesize market! For the west Australia route, charters are paying in the very high USD 9s pmt, with most owners now aiming close to USD 11 pmt. Tubarao/Qingdao is consequently presently in the low USD 23 - with two confirmed fixtures at USD 23. For period, owners are asking around USD 15k daily, after the Skythia fixture last week at USD 13k (last done for a year known in the market). Although no takers at those levels yet, the demand seems to be healthy for the near future. Source: Fearnleys AS
