2ND ANNUAL SHALE GAS SUMMIT
2nd Annual Shale Gas Summit 31 October – 3 November 2011 JW Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong
According to a recent EIA study (April 2011), initial assessments identify “5760 tcf of technically recoverable shale gas resources in 32 foreign countries compared with 862 tcf in the United States”.
It is estimated that China has 3532 tcf of shale gas resources and 918 – 1589 tcf of recoverable reserves. China has great potential in which international oil majors and NOCs are closely examining, and attendees at the 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit will get a chance to hear from leading industry player, Enviro Energy, on China’s shale resource potential, as well as participate in discussions on how factors such as gas pricing, Government support, infrastructure and structure of investment companies still pose a challenge and what is needed to overcome this.
In India, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) has identified the regions across their vast landscape with potential shale gas reserves, but exact estimates are still unknown. The DGH is currently mapping out a regulatory framework and a policy for shale gas exploration.
Find out the progress made in preparation for India’s first shale gas auction round - scheduled for June 2012 - at this forum, and get direct insights from the Great Eastern Energy Corporation, who will exemplify the unconventional scene in India thus far and its application to shale resources.
Over in Australia, the Cooper Basin is highly prospective for shale gas and John Heugh, Managing Director of Central Petroleum will highlight their target acreage for shale gas exploration, partnerships, technology and market strategy for commercialization.
Not to be left behind, Indonesia is estimated to have approximately 100Tcf of shale gas resources in which Papua (Eastern Indonesia) and Sumatra (Western Indonesia) have been identified as the main development areas. Vice President of Pertamina’s Upstream Technology Centre, Mr. Adrianyah, will be on hand to give participants at the 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit insight on the latest developments driving shale gas development in Indonesia.
On the global front, NOCs and IOCs like Petrochina, Reliance Industries and BHP Billiton Australia have acquired stakes in Shale Gas companies in the US, which will enable them to gain expertise and technology for the commercialization of Shale Gas. Poland - another key Shale Gas hot spot that has attracted investors worldwide, particularly with their friendly investment environment and fiscal terms - has an estimated 1.4 trillion cubic meters of resources.
The 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit will closely examine the US success, leading technology and best practices for Asia to adopt, as well as review the Polish market and opportunities for investment.
Enhancing the learning opportunities at this key event are two special focus add-on days, including a Pre-Conference Workshop on “The Commercial Fundamentals for Shale Gas” which will be led by Blue Energy Australia’s Chairman, Peter Cockcroft - a very highly respected oil and gas professional with over 35 years of experience and much sought after for his strategic acumen by many companies.
For those that want to gain a better understanding of the technical aspects of Shale Gas, the Post-Conference Workshop on “Shale Gas Resource Characterization, Evaluation & Development: The Practical Aspects” will be led by experts from Baker Hughes US – Usman Ahmed (Vice President, Reservoir Themes & Solutions) and Robert Kennedy (Lead Production/Petroleum Engineer) – who have between them a combined experience of more than 65 years in practical petroleum, production and reservoir engineering.
Bringing together oil & gas companies, investors, policy makers, technology and upstream service providers, the 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit is your chance to get expert insight into determining the true economic value of your shale gas reservoirs, and to find out more about capital markets & risk management in shale gas projects.
Join the expert panel of speakers in Hong Kong this 31 October – 3 November 2011 and be updated on strategies to address the non-technical risks hindering successful shale gas investment & development, as well as leading edge technology & solutions for optimal shale gas production.
Featuring case studies from 7+ Unconventional and Shale Gas operators, the 2nd Annual Global Shale Gas Investment Summit will provide industry players with the perfect platform for interactive discussions on partnerships, collaboration & stakeholder engagement for the commercialization of shale gas in Asia.
